- calculation of remaining resources;
- calculation of extracted volumes based on topographic survey results;
- preparation of amendments to the recultivation project (recultivation project update).
Remaining Resource Calculation
A key service that sets SIA “Geolite” apart is the fast and high-quality calculation of remaining resources in existing deposits—also referred to as resource inventory or resource recalculation.
When a Remaining Resource Calculation Is Require:
- when there is a change of the subsoil user (owner, lessee, or operator) resulting in the issuance of a new extraction limit;
- as part of periodic resource reviews required by the competent authority;
-
prior to quarry recultivation.
How the Work Is Carried Out
Unlike a newly surveyed deposit, recalculating remaining resources in an operating or previously mined deposit is more complex, because the deposit has already been excavated, layers have been interrupted, roads have been built, and cover layers as well as stockpiles have been placed.
In many cases, a recalculation also involves working with historical survey data. This may require retrieving information from archives and linking older borehole logs and plans to modern coordinate and elevation systems. Depending on the available documentation, the scope may also include verifying or updating the original resource figures to ensure consistency. The remaining resource report is then submitted for official review and acceptance by the competent authority. Review time vary depending on the complexity of the deposit and the existing data
Calculation of Extracted Volumes from Topographic Survey Data
Calculation of extracted volumes based on topographic survey data is carried out as required by applicable requirements—typically on a periodic basis and/or when production thresholds or reporting obligations apply.
