Resource prospecting

Data Review

First, we agree with the Client which materials will be explored—sand & gravel, sand, peat, dolomite, gypsum, limestone, or another target material. SIA “Geolite” then performs an existing data review: we compile and assess information from existing data, geological maps, spatial planning documents, and other sources to determine whether the target materials are likely to occur within the property and whether their extraction is likely to be permitted.

Fieldwork

the next step is to confirm the presence of the target materials. We prepare a work program depending on the material type, the Client’s requirements, and the size of the area. During drilling, we record lithology (material composition). If target resource is identified in at least part of the boreholes, it can be concluded that the material occurs within the area. Where necessary, laboratory testing is then carried out to refine the material’s quality parameters.

Report Preparation

Following the fieldwork, we prepare a report on the results, which includes:

  • borehole logs/descriptions;

  • a borehole location plan;

  • a preliminary estimate of material volumes (resource potential);

  • an explanatory text report.

Results

SIA “Geolite” resource assessments are recognized by clients, as the work is carried out to a high standard. The report prepared by SIA “Geolite” can serve as a basis for further detailed geological survey or as supporting documentation demonstrating increased land value.
